| 1. Using a clothesline, index cards,
markers, and clothespins hang out a Word Family to dry. |
| 2. Begin at one end of the tape with the
word and print rainbow words that you discovered while exploring. Like am
cam dam
ham jam

| 3. Print word explorations on a sentence
strip. Tape one end of a rolling pin with the sentence strip. Roll up
the sentence strip and tape at the end. Now your ready to read and show
off your work to your classmates by unwinding your creation.
You could also could use an empty paper towel roll. |

Cooperative Groups work together to perform skits using word explorations. |
| Dial it up: Let your fingers do the
spelling as you use your
word explorer worksheet.

| Word-A- Pillar: Cut apart egg cartons and
print a word on each section. Save one part for the face and decorate.
Add toothpicks with flags for the antenna displaying the word family.
Attach the toothpicks and exhibit them for the class to view. |
| Achievement Chain: As children
master the words on the word wall they receive a letter bead or bead to
represent the recognition and the mastery of the words under that letter.
There could be many variations to this wearable or hanging reward.

| Word Relay: Teams are divided into
groups of 4 or 5. Each person is given a word from the word wall.
He/She must run to his/her assigned chart paper, take a marker print the
word, and run back and tag the next person in line. The next person
runs and performs the same task. The first team that finishes wins.
There could be many variations to this game.

| Word Exploration Macarena: Using an
exploration put the words to music and dance by singing the words and
dancing the moves to the Macarena. For example am cam dam ham
jam Pam ram Sam clam gram wham slam am exploration clap

| Word Riddles: Keep giving clues
until the children guess!
